Meet the 3-Ds and the Staff

3-Ds

David Sabourin

After graduation from Saint Mary’s High School in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1990 it was off to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. My teaching career began in 1995. Most recently, I earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum Design from the University of Phoenix.

My wife is a fine artist and graphic designer. We have a daughter, 11, and two sons, 8 and 5. During our time together, we love to read, explore in the woods, play games, travel and attend sporting events.  I enjoy coaching instructional league basketball for St. John’s, LSO flag football and baseball for the Diamond Elite.

My addictions include golf, the NFL, Cardinals baseball, and Xavier University basketball.

Dave Fugate

I graduated from a small high school on the outskirts of Columbus. I attended The Ohio State University with the goal of a business degree. During the summers, I worked near Scranton PA, at a summer camp. After two years at Camp Wayne, I realized that working with kids was my true calling. I returned to OSU, but changed by degree path to education. I graduated in 1990 and was luckily hired into the Lakota Local School District. I have been teaching within the district for 22 years, I’ve earned a Master’s degree from Miami University in school administration.

My wife, Amy is an administrator within Lakota. We have a daughter, who is a senior and a son who is going into 7th grade next year. I have many hobbies, such as geocaching , mountain biking and fishing, but my  true love is flying. I have had my Pilot’s license for 23 years. Sometimes when you see a small plane overhead, it may just be me.

Doug Beals

I’ve been teaching elementary physical education for the past 12 years and love every minute of it.  I was born and raised in Chicago and no matter how bad they are, I’ll always be a Cubbies fan.

My wife and I have two incredible kids, a daughter who is 11 and my son who is 10.  We love hiking, bike riding and camping together as a family and love watching our kids play sports.  My hobbies include fitness training, golf and our summer trips to California.

3D Sports Camp is a high energy, fun filled camp for kids in grades 1-6.
The camp was started 3 years ago by Elementary PE teacher Doug Beals and 5th grade teachers Dave Sabourin and Dave Fugate.   Combined they have over 40 years of teaching experience at the elementary level.

We wanted to start a sports camp that gave kids an opportunity to stay active during the summer months and also an opportunity to get to know kids from other surrounding elementary schools.  Our camp is basically one giant outdoor gym class so if you enjoy games like dodge ball, hockey, kickball, soccer, flag football, whiffle ball, basketball, tag games and capture the flag, then this camp is for you.

Camp participants are broken into groups by age and grade and taught by our three camp directors.  Our main goal and focus is to get your child active while teaching teamwork and good sportsmanship through friendly and fun competition.
